As we enter the 21st Century, the world does not seem as big as it did before. It has come to the point where seeing foreigners is as natural as a routine experience. Transportation has been developed to the point where we can reach any place in the world in a mere day or two at an affordable price. Communication has never been easier due to the augmentation of technology like LTE, Facebook and smartphones. As a result, problems that were once local - war, economy, terrorism, and politics – are no longer local but international. Therefore, people must now learn and take interest in what is happening around the world, understand diverse cultures that exist in other countries and make overseas friends; in short, they must develop a cosmopolitan viewpoint. This is the same for us, teenagers. Even though we are not yet adults, we must embrace the changes and develop a wider perspective in ourselves.

 

In order to meet this mission, the YMU International provides teenagers around the world with an open platform where teenagers can share their ideas and experiences with like-minded individuals in order to better understand the world around them. It gives our members a voice that enables them to lead the way forward while engaging an audience that is interested in learning about the world. By bringing together young minds today, we will succeed in creating a better world tomorrow.
