One of the YMU International's goals is to widen the perspectives of teenagers by giving them an opportunity to learn and discuss global issues. The first step in developing a cosmopolitan view is to be aware of today's global issues instead of just the local ones. We must have through knowledge about diverse subjects. Some of us may be thinking, "What is the need for a cosmopolitan view? Knowing what is happening in my own town is enough." However, we must not forget that in the 21st century, there are no borders; everyone is interconnected. We must take interest in the food crises happening in South Africa. We must be aware of the digital divide present between the developed nations and the developing ones. We must try to see what we cannot see. Comment after reading articles. Express your opinion on the economic crises around the world. Make your own judgements on world issues. Join the discussion. Take action. Don't worry about not knowing where to start. YMU will help. You need not look any further thanhere to take your first step into becoming a global teenager. 

 

 

Experience.

Another of YMU International's goals is to allow teenagers to experience the different lifestyles of other adolescents and recognize the diverse cultures that exist around the world. In order to do this, teenagers will take part in showing their lifestyle and sharing their thoughts through videos thereby communicating with the other teens most effectively. Also, by taking part, teenagers will have a chance to take action and involve themselves in the process of globalizing the teenagers around the world. During this process, it is crucial for the teenagers to have fun and be creative. What use is a video if it is not fun? How different is a video from a textbook if it talks and talks and talks the same way a textbook does? YMU will aim to help teenagers learn, experience AND have fun at the same time. Go and have fun!
